Loopback'17 - department level alumni meet, the first in NIT Calicut, turned out to be a very memorable event . More than 60 members of the alumni attended the meeting with their families. The full day programme included a lot of fun events too. A Treasure Hunt/Campus Walk, formal and informal meetings with faculty and current students, Volley Ball matches, dining from hostel messes, were some of the memorable highlights of the day. The programme ended with a cultural programme followed by dinner. Dr. G.Unni Krishnan , Dean(Students' Welfare) of NIT Calicut, inaugurated the programme in the morning. This year's CSEA activities got kickstarted on September 8th with an inaugural talk by Mr Paul Mathews,Founder and CEO of Nethram LLC and an alumnus of IIT,Madras.
The inauguration ceremony included a welcome address by Dr S D Madhukumar,Faculty-in-charge,CSEA followed by presidential address by department HoD Dr K A Abdul Nazeer. The CSEA activities planned for the year was presented by K Prasad Krishnan,Secretary,CSEA. The talk “Build for a Billion On Budget” primarily focussed on how to build and develop a mobile application with a potential one billion users on a budget.A detailed
overview of various version control systems like Github and BitBucket ,cloud services like AWS and Google cloud and the various development tools available was given. The talk stressed on developing the application in a cost-efficient manner. After the talk,an interactive session between the students and Mr Paul Mathews was also organised.
